For the next 10 months, I am working in the Undergraduate Area temporarily replacing the Office Assistant, Rachel Ampofo, who is on maternity leave.
I have been a Secretary/Receptionist here at Queen's Economics Department since 1997.
My first job after graduating from St. Lawrence College (2 year program) in 1976 was becoming the Secretary for the Department of Physics at the Royal Military College of Canada. I worked for several Professors of Physics for 16 years at which time I became a Mother of two. Finding it difficult to balance these two roles (the Working Mom), I resigned and managed a private daycare in my home from 1992-1996. It was a struggle getting back into the workplace with all the new technologies and finally QED took a chance and hired me. I have been here ever since.
My responsibilities here in the Department include the Main Office (Dun 209) Reception; I provide assistance to the faculty, students, staff, Workshop Organizers (Micro, Quant, Macro, General, etc); Administer room bookings for Dun 213, MC A516, Dun 350, Reading Room, Dun 229.
My working hours are 8:00 - 4:00 pm taking lunch from 11:30 - 12:30 pm.
