The 57th Annual Conference of the Canadian Economics Association was held June 2-3, 2023 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Current and former members of the QED were on the receiving end of two prestigious awards and one fellow.

John Hartwick, Professor Emeritus, was named one of the 2023 CEA Fellows.

Thorsten Koeppl, Professor, (along with Jeremy Kronick and Steve Ambler) won the Doug Purvis Memorial Prize for their article “The Consequences of the Bank of Canada’s Ballooned Balance Sheet” (published by the C.D. Howe Institute).

Alex Chernoff (PhD'16) won the Mundell Prize (for the second time) for the paper “Firm heterogeneity, technology adoption and the spatial distribution of population: Theory and measurement", published in CJE May 2021 (Volume 54, Number 2, pages 471-943).
